Are you planning on visiting China?
If whilst visiting China you happen to come across some form of animal abuse, if it is safe to do so, please take note of the following:
-
What is happening
-
Who is carrying out the abuse
-
Where and when the abuse is taking place
Plus, if you can, please take some photographs - but again, only if it is safe to do so.
Please email all experiences and photographs to Jennie Rudd.
How this information will help
A team of legal experts, led by Dr Chang Jiwen from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, have drafted an animal welfare law, which they plan to
submit to the National People’s Congress by the end of 2009. It will have to go through the State Council and receive three readings at the NPC Standing Committee before it can be adopted as law.
This is going to be a long, drawn-out process and the law will probably be changed and diluted a lot by the time it becomes law, if at all.
Once the law has been submitted to the National People's Congress, Naturewatch will be lobbying the Chinese authorities to ensure the law is passed and isn't diluted too much. Your experiences will provide ammunition and evidence to support our proposals.
Please know we will not disclose any personal information about you to the Chinese authorities, on our website, or anywhere for that matter. If you would rather email your stories and photographs anonymously, that is fine also.
I would like to thank you in advance for your support and for sharing your experiences with Naturewatch.
